The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has determined there would be no significant impact from a Truckee River stream bank restoration project east of Reno.
The public has until March 13 to comment on the bureau's finding and environmental assessment on the project being pursued by the cities of Reno and Sparks.
The cities want to improve the riparian ecosystem along a nearly 1-mile stretch of the river below Derby Dam by planting cottonwood trees and native plants.
The vegetation would shade the river and improve fish and wildlife habitat.
