Thanks for the guide, have been looking for something like that! I am hoping to get back into hiking - used to do a lot when I lived in Oregon. Haven't had much time lately, but hopefully some will open up soon. Of your favorites, which ones are doa…
Would love to maybe get a group together to build these - I would like to build my first, but it's always easier to actually watch someone who knows what they are doing & be able to ask questions rather than try to follow the directions.
After a pretty good summer harvest, I'm trying to grow in a tarp covered hoop structure I built myself out of some PVC pipes. Has anybody done something similar & what were the results like? I don't have any external heat source, hoping our abundant…
It all starts off when a small collection of motivated individuals within a community come together with a shared concern: how can our community respond to the challenges, and opportunities, of Peak Oil and Climate Change?
Everyone gets along and basic necessities are worked out in neighborhood villages. Necessity becomes the mother of invention. Life gets very local. People relax. Stop running around. Spend more time talking to neighbors in the streets and walking their dogs together., The seeming ceaseless wealth of the late 20th century is not seen again. Depression sets in with many poor people just able to eat and provide shelter for their families while small minorities of a new middle class trade gold pieces and jewelry for goods and services., Recession. People reduce spending. Many move to large-scale apartment communities where food is grown collectively. Necessities are reduced to weekly food provisions and water. Electricity & Internet access & cable TV become big-ticket luxury items.

Hey Chip! Looking forward to hearing what you are doing for the post-oil era. It will be a good one if we get there in time... Tck, tck, tck... There's lots of amazing stuff buried in these pages. Craig Bergland's inventions are amazing. I've got one of his <$10 solar ovens and it's the bomb. As a matter of fact, I'll go put some rice out there now! Peace.
